Head of the Department: Prof. UR dr hab. Jan Olszewski
Academic staff are involved in research across a broad
spectrum of legal topics concerning business and commercial law, namely:
:: the law of business organisations, including company law;
:: commercial transactions, including secured transactionsand collaterals on shares in a limited company and joint-stock company;
:: arbitration and mediation law;
:: air law;
:: bankruptcy and reorganisation;
:: public aspects of commercial law;
:: competition law;
:: consumer protection;
:: industrial property;
:: alternative dispute resolution in commercial disputes;
:: public aid;
:: public procurement.
Consequently, the publications of the staff concern
various aspects of business law. The major collective development in this field
during 2005 was "Prawo gospodarcze publiczne" (BECK 2005), the textbook covering
virtually every aspect of business law as seen from the perspective of public
law. A similar textbook to be released by BECK in 2006/2007 Prawo gospodarcze. Kompendium
is awaiting publication, under the editorship of Prof. Jan Olszewski.
In September 2006, the Department was hosting an
international conference on arbitration and mediation in commercial disputes.
The articles submitted before the conference were published in 2006.
In 2006, another book project was launched. It aims to
approach Polish business law for foreign students taking business law course in
Poland.
